Itinerary
In the morning, drive approximately 110 km west of Addis Ababa to the town of Ambo, and then continue another 30 km to the village of Wonchi. From here, you will trek down toward the shore of the crater lake surrounded by forests and breathtaking scenery.
Visitors can enjoy activities such as trekking, horseback riding, and a boat trip across the lake to visit the historic Saint Kirkos Monastery, located on an island in the center of the lake.
Depending on the timing of your visit, a picnic lunch may be served while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. In the afternoon, we return to Addis Ababa.
Wonchi Lake lies at an altitude of over 3,000 meters above sea level and is located about 150 km from Addis Ababa and 32 km south of Ambo.
