Tour Highlight

  • A visit to Debre Libanos Monastery and the historic Portuguese Bridge (Ras Darge’s Bridge) is one of the most popular day trips from Addis Ababa.

Itinerary

The tour begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel after breakfast (around 7:30 AM). We drive north of Addis Ababa through the scenic Entoto Hills, which offer spectacular views of the capital. Along the way, we make stops to enjoy the landscape, take photographs, and observe local daily life.

After approximately two hours of driving, we arrive at Debre Libanos Monastery, one of the most important religious sites in Ethiopia. Here we visit the church and the recently opened museum. A short but steep path leads to the cave where Saint Tekle Haimanot is believed to have prayed.

Later, enjoy a relaxing lunch with breathtaking views overlooking the Jemma River Gorge. After lunch, we take a short walk to Ras Darge’s Bridge, commonly known as the Portuguese Bridge. In the late afternoon, we return to Addis Ababa and drop you off at your hotel at around 6:00 PM.
