This 7-day adventure combines scenic trekking, breathtaking viewpoints, and encounters with Ethiopia’s unique wildlife, including Gelada baboons, Walia ibex, and the rare Ethiopian wolf. Starting and ending in Gondar, the tour offers an unforgettable experience through Ethiopia’s most iconic mountain wilderness.
Day 1: Arrival in Gondar
Upon arrival in Gondar, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a brief tour of the historic city, including the Royal Enclosure and the famous Debre Birhan Selassie Church.
Overnight: Hotel in Gondar
Day 2: Gondar – Debark – Sankaber
After breakfast, drive to Debark and enter Simien Mountains National Park. Continue to Buyit Ras and begin a scenic trek to Sankaber, enjoying your first views of the dramatic escarpments and wildlife.
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Overnight: Camping at Sankaber
Day 3: Geech - Imet Gogo - Return to Geech
Day hike to Imet Gogo viewpoint one of the best landscapes in Ethiopia. Return to Geech for sunset.
Overnight at Geech Camp
Day 4: Imet Gogo Excursion
Enjoy a full-day hike to the famous Imet Gogo viewpoint, one of the most breathtaking locations in the Simien Mountains. Continue to several nearby viewpoints before returning to Geech Camp.
Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Overnight: Camping at Geech
Day 5: Geech – Chenek
Continue trekking through high-altitude landscapes to Chenek Camp. This area offers excellent opportunities to spot Walia ibex and other endemic wildlife while enjoying stunning mountain scenery.
Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Overnight: Camping at Chenek
Day 6: Chenek – Gondar
After a morning walk and wildlife viewing around Chenek, drive back to Gondar. Arrive in the afternoon and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Overnight: Hotel in Gondar
Day 7: Departure from Gondar
After breakfast, transfer to Gondar Airport for your departure flight. End of services.
